About Artist

Lilit Soghomonyan was born on February 18, 1969, in Yerevan, Armenia, into a family of artists, Van Soghomonyan and Nona Gabrielyan. Growing up in an artistic environment, she came to understand art from an early age not simply as a profession, but as a natural part of life, perception, and spiritual experience.

From 1985 to 1991, Soghomonyan studied at the Yerevan Institute of Fine Arts and Theatre. Since 1992, she has been a member of the Artists’ Union of Armenia.

She works primarily in painting and graphic art. Her artistic language is characterized by an expressive and fluid line, a refined sensitivity to color, and a particular attention to the relationship between form and space. In her work, the figurative and the abstract exist in a continuous dialogue: the human figure may gradually dissolve into a field of color, becoming an emotional sign, or, conversely, emerge with clarity and intensity through a precise graphic gesture.

The female figure is one of the central themes of Soghomonyan’s artistic practice. Through it, she explores the inner world of the individual, emotional intimacy, memory, motherhood, childhood, transformation, and the continuous movement of the human spirit. Her works are often built not upon direct narrative, but upon associations, symbols, and emotional states, inviting the viewer to continue the dialogue initiated by the artist.

Soghomonyan’s artistic career has developed through an international exhibition practice. Her solo exhibitions have been presented at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Armenia (Yerevan), Artists’ Museum (Washington, D.C., USA), InterArt Gallery Gor (Prague, Czech Republic), Pokrovskie Vorota Cultural Centre (Moscow, Russia), Gevorgyan Gallery (Yerevan, Armenia), Kreishaus Gallery (Hofheim, Germany), and St. John Armenian Church (San Francisco, USA), among other exhibition venues.

She has participated in group exhibitions and international art projects in Armenia, the United States, Germany, France, Italy, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Lebanon, Russia, Belarus, and other countries.

Lilit Soghomonyan collaborates with a number of galleries and exhibition platforms in Armenia and internationally. These include Arame Gallery and Antikyan Gallery in Armenia, AVEST Gallery in Switzerland, and InterArt Gallery Gor in the Czech Republic. These collaborations form an important part of her ongoing international exhibition and professional practice.

In recent years, Soghomonyan has continued to maintain an active presence in the contemporary art scene, participating in exhibitions and international projects, including projects presented between 2024 and 2026.

Her works are held in the collections of the National Gallery of Armenia and the Museum of Contemporary Art of Yerevan, as well as in private collections in Armenia and abroad.

Today, Lilit Soghomonyan continues to work in painting and graphic art, developing an individual artistic language in which personal memory, the female figure, colour, and line become means of exploring human emotion, inner space, and time.
